LISA M. HOLLIER, MD, NEW DISTRICT XI CHAIR
Upon the resignation of Dr. Amy Young, who has relocated to New Orleans to take the Chair of Ob/Gyn at LSU, Dr. Lisa Hollier has assumed the new Chair of District XI. Dr. Hollier's leadership as our District XI Vice-Chair, past Treasurer, and throughout her leadership through many years in District VII serves her well, and we are assured that our District will continue to be strong and vital under her leadership. Please feel free to contact Dr. Hollier with any questions or concerns from our members.
Dr. Hollier is currently Professor and Director of Residency Training at UT/Houston, LBJ Hospital, and Interim Chief of Ob/Gyn. She is a past President of Texas Association of Ob/Gyn, and is a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist. Dr. Hollier served in District VII before we became District XI as Secretary-Program Chair and Treasurer, and has a long history of work with ACOG.
R. MOSS HAMPTON, MD, ELECTED NEW DISTRICT XI VICE-CHAIR
R. Moss Hampton, MD, Odessa, Texas, has been elected by the District Advisory Council in a special election to fill the role of District XI Vice-Chair for the remainder of the term of 2011-2013. Dr. Hampton takes over the Vice-Chair duties for Dr. Lisa Hollier, who is the newly appointed District XI Chair, after Dr. Amy Young's resignation and leaving Texas (see related article).
Dr. Hampton is already known to many as Chair of Section 1. Dr. Hampton's duties as Section 1 Chair will be assumed by Dr. Christopher Powers, El Paso, currently the Section 1 Vice-Chair. Dr. Powers is scheduled to become Chair in October, 2011, and will finish out Dr. Hampton's term until then.
Dr. Hampton is Chair and Associate Professor of Ob/Gyn at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center of the Permian Basin in Odessa. He is also Residency Program Director, and is a past President of the Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He also serves on the ACOG Committee on Gynecologic Practice. Dr. Hampton was recently awarded the "Educator of the Year Award" by the District Junior Fellows for 2010.
We are excited about Dr. Hampton's appointment and look forward to his excellent leadership.

Your officers have developed this representation so that all sections would have Junior Fellow representation, as well as being geographically/ administratively connected in various ways(for example, West Texas physicians have definite practices issues which affect them compared to North Texas physicians).
